About the role
Serves as a commissioned law enforcement officer responsible for protecting persons and property for the University of Houston. Enforces all laws, including but not limited to, penal and traffic laws. Patrols assigned area on foot or in a police vehicle. Responds to all calls for assistance, service, and hazardous situations. Conducts preliminary investigations of reported incidents, completes required reports. Conducts crime prevention program presentations. Attends required annual training seminars. Utilizes police equipment such as firearm, baton, handcuffs, mobile and handheld radios, camera and other equipment.

- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age and have a clear Texas driver's license.
- Must be TCOLE (formerly TCLEOSE) certified.
- Must pass a Criminal History and valid TX Driver's License check prior to an interview.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and overtime assignments.
- Must pass Background Investigation prior to employment.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.

- The applicant must have successfully completed a TCOLE basic licensing course and passed the TCOLE licensing examination, or be within 45 days of completion of a TCOLE recognized basic peace officer licensing course.
