Responsibilities Include
- Patrols assigned areas on foot, bicycle, or by motorized vehicle to control traffic, prevent or deter crime and educate, cite and/or arrest violators;
- Issues warnings or citations to drivers when violations of motor vehicle laws are observed;
- Enforces Federal and State laws as well as university rules;
- Responds to emergency alarms and calls for service;
- Makes decisions based on analysis of situation and facts;
- Responds to public service calls such as delivering emergency messages, motorist assists, animal complaints, civil complaints, domestic disturbances;
- Investigates reports of missing persons;
- Identifies unsafe conditions or areas ripe for criminal activity; reports conditions and takes corrective actions;
- Investigates all types of crimes and accidents;
- Performs follow-up duties on crimes/accidents as directed by supervisor;
- Interviews suspects and witnesses;
- Collects evidence and facts;
- Fills appropriate reports as directed by federal, state, or local legal requirements;
- Appears in court to provide testimony on investigations;
- Prepares detailed written reports of crimes, accidents, and incidents;
- Compiles daily reports on law enforcement activities for department management;
- Serves warrants, subpoenas, or other court processes as necessary;
- Trains sworn and non-sworn personnel on departmental policies, procedures, and activities;
- Works with the university residents/community and other outside public agencies to solve residential/university concerns;
- Makes oral presentations to students, faculty, staff, and other citizen groups on crime prevention/public safety issues;
- Maintains knowledge of, and answers questions about, campus law enforcement.
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED;
- Current AZPOST certification in good standing, or ability to obtain after successful completion of police academy or through waiver process;
- 21 years of age upon completion of academy;
- US citizen;
- Meet AZPOST standards;
- Possess current AZ Driver's License.

- Working knowledge of tools and policies of campus policing;
- Knowledge of university policing policies and procedures.

- Physical fitness to perform the duties of a police officer;
