Police Officer
About the role
The Police Officer position involves enforcing laws, protecting individuals and property, and providing public assistance. Duties include traffic enforcement, investigating crimes, and responding to emergencies.
Responsibilities
- Enforce federal, state, and local laws
- Patrol business districts and residential neighborhoods
- Respond to calls for service, investigate complaints, and process crime scenes
- Document incidents and testify in court
- Provide advice on laws and general information to the public
- Work as a School Resource Officer (SRO)
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Associate degree in political science, criminal justice, public administration, or a related field preferred
- One to three years of law enforcement experience desirable
- No felony convictions within the past 10 years
- Valid Kansas Driver's License with no recent suspensions or revocations
- Graduation from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center within one year of hire
- Maintain law enforcement training requirements as required by Kansas Statute 74-5607a(b)
