About the role

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a Psychiatric Nursing Assistant II (PNA II) to join a team dedicated to providing specialized care and fostering a positive impact on the lives of Texans.

Responsibilities

• Takes an active role in implementing individualized recovery plans and offering consistent support to patients.
• Uses therapeutic communication skills to engage patients and assist with activities of daily living.
• Accompanies patients to appointments and communicates effectively with other team members.
• Maintains direct and on-going therapeutic interactions to encourage progress towards less restrictive environments.
• Communicates patient care information to the licensed nurse and monitors vital signs as needed.
• Provides guidance and preceptorship to PNA Is as requested.
• Participates in unit-based and hospital-wide committees to enhance patient care and support departmental goals.

Requirements

• Twelve (12) months of direct care experience is preferred.
• Twelve (12) months of work experience.
• CPR certification or the ability to obtain certification within the first 60 days of employment.
• Valid Texas driver license or obtain one within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Completion of a nursing aide course.
• Knowledge of patient care techniques and treatment programs.
• Basic computer skills.
• Effective interpersonal and leadership skills.

Pay

$3,047.58 - $4,149.83 per month

Schedule

Day shift with up to 5% travel, up to 10% telework, and up to 5% weekend work.
