About the role

We’re looking for a skilled and proactive Preventative Maintenance Technician to join our team and ensure our fleet of service trucks and trailers remains safe, operational, and compliant with DOT regulations. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is eager to learn, and enjoys solving problems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and light repairs on our truck and trailer fleet, including:
    • Conducting seasonal and monthly preventative maintenance services such as oil changes and lubrication
    • Checking and maintaining fluid levels
    • Inspecting U-joints, bearings, PTO shafts
    • Examining air and exhaust systems
    • Evaluating tire condition and brake performance
    • Reviewing suspension systems
    • Performing light electrical repairs
    • Servicing steering and fuel systems
    • Performing light-duty mechanical work as needed
  • Transport trucks to satellite branches for scheduled maintenance and repairs
  • Keep detailed records of maintenance work, parts inventory, and services completed
  • Repair hoses and wands as required

Requirements

  • Experience in preventative maintenance or general mechanical work (required)
  • Completion of mechanic courses or equivalent truck maintenance knowledge (preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record (For Hire Endorsement - IN or Class C License - IL preferred)
  • Basic set of personal tools
  • Fundamental computer skills for logging service and inventory data
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Plumbing experience is a plus

Pay

$20.80 - $26.00 per hour (Gary, IN)

Schedule

  • Paid weekly, every Friday
  • 2nd shift position starting at 2:00 PM
