Plumbing/Mechanical Engineer

About the role
The Plumbing/Mechanical Engineer will design and coordinate plumbing and mechanical systems for building projects, including preparation of calculations, drawings, and specifications. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area, with a mix of in-office work and some work-from-home flexibility.
Responsibilities
- Perform system load calculations, select equipment, and review codes and standards.
- Collaborate with architects, other engineers, and contractors to ensure integrated and compliant designs.
- Evaluate existing systems and support maintenance-related design improvements.
- Respond to RFIs and participate in site visits to assess conditions and verify installations.
- Design plumbing systems, including domestic water, sanitary, storm, and gas systems.
- Work with pipe layout, sizing, routing, and coordination with other building systems.
- Support maintenance activities and troubleshoot system performance issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; PE license or EIT certification preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of plumbing system design and maintenance principles for mechanical equipment in building environments.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (e.g., UPC, IPC, local building codes, energy and green building requirements).
- Proficiency with design and modeling tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar BIM software) and basic office productivity software.
- Strong customer service mindset and ability to communicate effectively with clients, project teams, and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a collaborative, hybrid environment.
