Plumbing Installation Technician

About the role

IES Residential, Inc. is seeking a Plumbing Installation Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems on residential or commercial job sites in the greater Houston, TX area. This is an entry-level field position ideal for someone with basic construction or plumbing experience who is dependable, safety-focused, and eager to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems, fixtures, piping, and related equipment.
• Support jobsite preparation, material handling, equipment setup, and installation activities.
• Measure, cut, assemble, and install piping and plumbing components under supervision.
• Read and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, work orders, and job instructions.
• Maintain tools, equipment, vehicles, and work areas in a safe and organized manner.
• Follow company policies, safety procedures, plumbing codes, and quality standards.
• Help track materials, maintain jobsite organization, and complete basic documentation.
• Communicate professionally with supervisors, coworkers, vendors, and customers.
• Participate in training to build plumbing knowledge and field skills.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: None
• Minimum Years of Experience: 0-2
• Specific Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous plumbing, construction, or field experience preferred. Plumbing trade school, apprenticeship, certifications, or licenses preferred. Basic knowledge of plumbing tools, materials, and construction practices preferred. Ability to read basic work instructions, diagrams, and technical documents. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a field team. Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and professional conduct. Ability to pass required pre-employment screenings, including background and motor vehicle record checks. Ability to communicate effectively in English where required to perform job duties.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Must be able to work on-site and in person; this is not a remote or hybrid position.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull at least 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, reach, and work throughout the day.
• Comfortable working indoors and outdoors, including attics, crawlspaces, confined spaces, elevated areas, and active construction sites.
• Exposure to weather, noise, dust, and typical jobsite conditions.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment.
• Ability to drive or travel between job sites as needed.
• Overtime, modified schedules, or occasional weekend work may be required.
• Reliable attendance and dependable transportation required.
