About the role

We are seeking a mid-level Plumbing/Fire Protection Designer to join our Buildings division. This position will involve preparing Plumbing and Fire Protection design documents and assisting a Senior Engineer with related calculations, cost estimates, reports, and specifications for building-focused projects. Additional responsibilities include conducting field surveys, participating in client meetings, and making recommendations based on client needs.

The Buildings Division provides design services to both public agencies and private corporations, with current projects including public transit terminals, transportation maintenance facilities, municipal buildings, light commercial/retail, correctional facilities, manufacturing, law enforcement, public health, and both K-12 and higher education buildings.

This position is located in STV’s Douglassville office (preferred) or Philadelphia office.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare Plumbing and Fire Protection design documents.
  • Assist a Senior Engineer with calculations, cost estimates, reports, and specifications.
  • Conduct field surveys and participate in client meetings to discuss project matters.
  • Make recommendations based on client needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience designing a wide variety of facilities for industrial, commercial, educational, institutional, and governmental projects.
  • Experience with all systems associated with Plumbing and Fire Protection, including Sanitary, Storm, Domestic Water, Natural Gas, compressed air, Wet/Dry/Pre-action Sprinkler systems, and Fire Standpipe systems.
  • Good planning, organizational, and communication skills.

Focused experience with industrial projects, state agency projects, and/or local municipal projects is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Degree or certification in mechanical, plumbing, and/or fire protection engineering or equivalent experience in plumbing/fire protection design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic calculations, specification writing, applicable building codes, and cost estimating.

Experience with Microstation and Bentley 3D, as well as LEED AP, CPD, or NICET certifications, are also a plus.

Pay

Compensation range: $99,431.03 – $113,635.46.
