Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages contractors' Statements of Work (SOW) and oversees budgetary aspects of projects.
- Trains subordinates to function well as a team to at least journeyman level competency in plumbing and mechanical repair.
- Trains subordinates to complete work orders in a timely and efficient manner without needing constant supervision or guidance.
- Evaluates facility maintenance problems/issues in a timely manner and determines a course of action to resolve problems/issues given budget and resources.
- Schedules and manages necessary subcontractor budget and repairs.
- Learns City of Atlanta organization policy and procedures to better manage resources available to complete section maintenance and personnel needs.
- Becomes familiar with City of Atlanta PPD, Civil Code, Code of Ethics in conjunction with building and safety codes to assist in better managing resources.
- Investigates plumbing related complaints; suggests methods and procedures for repair, re-engineering or replacement of systems and their components.
- Makes site visits to review, inspect and maintain quality control of plumbing systems and installations.
- Receives, reviews, and logs engineering requests and determines type and scope of work.
- Develops work plans and tracks project costs and time.
- Prepares and/or reviews reports, memos, and other documents, and develops and maintains related files.
- Confers with supervisor, contractors, and others as necessary to provide directions, answer questions, and resolve problems.
- Confers with Civil Engineers, City and other governmental officials, and others as necessary to coordinate work.
- Conducts on-site inspections to ensure that work is performed in conformance with specifications and plans.
- Conducts tests and otherwise monitors water availability, pressure, and flow, resolves problems, and performs other duties as necessary to ensure the availability of potable water.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of plumbing codes, engineering, and plumbing construction practices and procedures as necessary in the completion of daily responsibilities;
- Sewer gas and back flow prevention devices and systems;
- Applicable policies, standards, and regulations pertaining to the specific duties;
- Operating computers with demonstrated talent in identifying, scrutinizing and streamlining complex work processes.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience – Associate's degree, graduation from vocational training program in engineering, construction management, plumbing, building trades or related field required (Additional years of experience may be considered as a substitute for the required degree on an exceptional basis, with a minimum of seven (7) years of professional related experience in plumbing engineering).
- 5 years' of progressively responsible experience in plumbing engineering or related experience.
- Licensures and Certifications – OSHA 30 license/training. Must possess a valid Georgia driver's license.
