About the role

The Plumbing Estimator prepares accurate and competitive cost estimates for plumbing projects by reviewing plans, specifications, material requirements, labor needs, and project scope. This role collaborates with internal teams, customers, vendors, subcontractors, and field personnel to support successful project planning, bidding, and execution while maintaining quality and profitability standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed plumbing estimates by reviewing project plans, specifications, drawings, and scope requirements.
  • Calculate labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costs to develop accurate and competitive bids.
  • Perform material takeoffs and determine quantities of plumbing fixtures, piping, fittings, equipment, and related materials.
  • Obtain and evaluate pricing from vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors as needed.
  • Review bid documents and identify potential discrepancies, scope gaps, risks, or cost-saving opportunities.
  • Coordinate with project managers, field personnel, customers, vendors, and other internal departments regarding estimating and project requirements.
  • Maintain accurate estimating records, bid documentation, pricing information, and project files.
  • Support project handoffs and provide estimating information to operations and project teams as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable plumbing codes, industry standards, materials, and construction practices.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous plumbing estimating or related plumbing/construction experience preferred.
  • Experience reviewing plumbing plans, specifications, material takeoffs, and project costs preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Relevant plumbing, estimating, or industry certifications or licenses preferred, and required where necessary to perform job duties.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and applicable systems or software.
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screenings such as background and motor vehicle record checks.
  • English speaking, reading, and writing preferred, and required where necessary to perform job duties.
  • Maintain professionalism and a positive, respectful demeanor with customers, coworkers, and business partners.

Physical Requirements

  • Hand movements, including typing and equipment operation.
  • Travel as required to support project and operational needs.
  • Work in a typical office environment, sitting at a desk and performing prolonged computer work, with occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
  • Maintain dependable transportation and consistent, reliable attendance to meet customer service and operational needs.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions within established company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work overtime, modified schedules, or occasional weekends as business needs require.
  • Communicate in person, by phone, and electronically, including on a tablet, smartphone, and other office technology.
  • Perform all work on-site and in person; this is not a remote or hybrid position.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull at least 25 pounds.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without current or future need for employer sponsorship. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or work authorization support.
