Plumbing Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Plumbing Engineer / MEP Designer to design plumbing and fire protection systems for commercial and residential projects.

Responsibilities

• Design plumbing and fire protection systems from concept through construction documentation.
• Prepare engineering calculations for water, gas, sanitary, sewer, and storm drainage systems.
• Conduct field surveys and evaluate existing building conditions.
• Develop construction drawings, specifications, and design documentation.
• Cook up with architectural, engineering, construction, and regulatory teams throughout project execution.
• Manage multiple projects while meeting schedules and project requirements.
• Review shop drawings and participate in project coordination meetings.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, fire protection standards, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in plumbing and/or fire protection system design.
• Minimum 3 years of experience designing projects within New York City.
• Strong knowledge of NYC Building Code, NYC Energy Conservation Code, and local permitting requirements.
• Experience with utility company filing procedures.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit experience is a plus).
• Familiarity with NFPA 13, NFPA 13R, and hydraulic calculations.
• Experience with DEP cross-connection and site connection submissions is preferred.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
