Plumbing Engineer
About the role
The Plumbing Engineer serves as the lead on projects from concept through construction administration. They perform design efforts, develop construction documents, and delegate design tasks to junior engineers when possible. They review shop drawings and respond to RFIs as well as work through issues with contractors in the field.
Responsibilities
- Lead design discussions and carry design concept through to project drawings.
- Design plumbing systems for construction drawings that include plumbing floor plans, riser diagrams, details, schedules, and sections.
- Perform plumbing related calculations.
- Select plumbing equipment.
- Coincide with other engineering and architectural trades during design.
- Develop construction documents in AutoCAD and Revit.
- Contribute to sustainable design discussions and implement sustainable strategies as appropriate to the project scope.
- Administer construction administration for plumbing scope items including conformance to contract documents and solve problems.
- Respond to project questions and concerns in a timely and thorough manner.
- Research and assess applicable project codes and other regulations.
- Conduct other important engineering research as necessary.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical or Plumbing Design.
- Licensed Professional Engineer.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience working for a consulting engineering firm.
- Well versed in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office.
