Plumbing Apprentice - Life Sciences

About the role

UG2’s apprenticeship program offers employees the opportunity to attain on-the-job training and experience under the supervision of a licensed plumber in accordance with the requirements set forth by the Division of Apprentice Standards and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. UG2 provides facility services to a diverse and ever-expanding portfolio of facilities, including commercial and corporate high-rise buildings, corporate office parks, higher education facilities and campuses, and retail mall locations.

Responsibilities

• Gain exposure to preventative and corrective plumbing maintenance
• Gain exposure to plumbing systems installation and repair
• Work with work order systems
• Participate in process improvement initiatives
• Manage client relations
• Manage facilities account management

Qualifications

• Must understand the level of commitment necessary to complete the program
• Must have an active Plumbing Apprentice License
• Must complete learning hours annually from an accredited institution approved by the Division of Apprentice Standards
• Must complete working hours in the field under the supervision of our licensed plumber
• Must attend mandatory check-in meetings to ensure progress is met and any questions/concerns are addressed
• Must complete all required Safety Trainings mandated by the UG2 Safety Training Program
• Must be receptive to feedback and incorporate it into their practice
• Must take advantage of additional learning opportunities, such as UG2-sponsored trainings

• Free of disciplinary infractions for six months prior to being considered for admission into the program

• Highly professional with a solid understanding of customer service principles
• Commitment to delivering superior customer service
• Excellent oral and written communication skills (e.g., email correspondence)
• Strong attention to safety practices and protocols
• Good judgment and decision-making abilities
• Respectful of proper process, procedure, and protocol
• Able to utilize computerized handheld devices
• Flexible schedule (able to work nights and weekends when necessary)
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Must have a High School Diploma or GED, as required by state regulations
