About the role
The Plumber IV uses practical knowledge to complete moderately complex projects and assignments within the Plumbing family. They help train or mentor less experienced employees and work under general direction.
Responsibilities
- Owns test instrument calibration and control (gauges, manometers, test pumps, press tools)
- Schedules, verifies, and quarantines out-of-tolerance tools
- Develops and maintains kitting standards for common tasks (heater/pump service kits, valve rebuilds, press/PEX adapters)
- Performs advanced parts identification/interchange; maintains cross-brand equivalency lists and adapter charts
- Runs water quality and disinfection support—collects samples, manages disinfectant dosage logs, and tracks results
- Builds diagnostic evidence packets—pressure charts, flow logs, camera images—and attaches to CMMS records
- Manages shop equipment readiness—threaders, press tools, test pumps—coordinates PM and repairs
- Creates visual work instructions for isolation, drain-down, joining prep, and test sequences; trains S1–S3 staff
- Collaborates on temporary bypass piping and staging for shutdowns
- Audits parts crib accuracy—bin counts, adapter availability, consumables—and corrects discrepancies
- Supports complex jobs by staging fixtures, valves, and special tools in sequence
