Plumber (#011405) Lieber Correctional Institution, Ridgeville (DORCHESTER) Level 3

Responsibilities

• Develops and manages the plumbing maintenance and repair program throughout the facility.
• Performs maintenance on sewers, water distribution systems, building storm drains, and other plumbing or pipe-fitting systems.
• Supervises and installs plumbing and related systems in construction and renovation projects within the facility.
• Establishes on-call procedures to respond to emergency plumbing maintenance and repair calls, ensuring prompt and proper performance.
• Supervises the operation and maintenance of plumbing facilities and sewage disposal equipment to ensure compliance with SCDHEC standards.
• Determines requirements for plumbing supplies and equipment, prepares justifications, and requisitions all necessary supplies.
• Stays updated on new plumbing techniques, procedures, and equipment; recommends procurement and assists in supervising the installation of new plumbing and sewage disposal equipment.
• Orients new employees and administers training.
• Successfully completes four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Requirements

• A high school diploma (or equivalent experience) and experience in the installation, maintenance, or repair of air, water, gas, or waste disposal systems. Relevant experience may substitute for the diploma on a year-for-year basis.
• Ability to supervise, direct, instruct, and collaborate effectively with others.
