Plein Air Artmaking + Exhibition Opportunity at Beattie-Powers Place

The historic grounds overlooking the Hudson River, the Rip Van Winkle Bridge, Olana State Historic Site, and the Beattie-Powers Place historic home.

Who Can Participate

Artists of all disciplines, mediums, experience levels, and ages are welcome to participate!

Exhibition

• Submission forms will be shared with attendees the week of August 17, 2026.
• Registered artists may submit up to three artworks created at Beattie Powers, either from CREATE’s plein air dates or from separate sessions.
• Works started, developed, or finished during CREATE’s plein air dates will be prioritized.
• At least one artwork per artist will be selected for the exhibition.

Key Dates

• Artwork Drop-Off: Mon, Sept 14 or Tue, Sept 15
• Drop-off Address: CREATE Council on Arts, 453 Main St, Catskill, NY (entrance on Brandow Alley)
• Opening Reception: Sat, Sept 19, 3–5pm
• Exhibition Dates: Sat, Sept 19–Dec (exact date TBD)

• Portable easel, French easel, tripod, or travel-friendly setup
• Small painting surface, sketchbook, or drawing pad
• Painting or drawing materials of your choice (oil, acrylic, watercolor, pencil, etc.)
• Stool or portable chair (optional, but recommended)
