Playwright Automation Test Engineer
About The Role
As a Playwright Automation Test Engineer, you will make an impact by developing scalable automation solutions, driving quality engineering best practices, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality applications across enterprise platforms. You will be a valued member of the Quality Engineering team and work collaboratively with developers, product owners, DevOps teams, business stakeholders, and global delivery teams.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks using Playwright and modern automation technologies.
- Create and execute automated test suites for UI, API, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
- Collaborate with Agile teams to define test strategies, develop test cases, and ensure comprehensive quality coverage.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and DevOps best practices.
- Perform backend validation using SQL, analyze defects and quality metrics, and support release validation activities.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance and Test Automation.
- Minimum 4+ years of hands-on test automation experience, including at least 2+ years of Playwright experience.
- Strong experience in API testing and automation using Postman, REST Assured, or equivalent frameworks.
- Proficiency in SQL with the ability to write complex queries, validate data integrity, perform backend testing, and analyze results.
- Experience working in Agile environments utilizing BDD, Cucumber, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and CI/CD methodologies.
- Strong understanding of DevOps practices and continuous testing principles.
- Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-scale automation frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of functional, regression, integration, API, UI, and end-to-end testing methodologies.
- Excellent analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a global onsite-offshore delivery model and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Qualifications
- Insurance domain experience.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
- Experience researching, evaluating, and implementing emerging automation tools and technologies.
- Experience with test reporting, quality metrics, defect triage, and release validation processes.
What You Need To Have To Be Considered

Pay And Other Compensation
The annual salary for this position is between $53,477– $92,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
