Responsibilities
- Efficiently and effectively runs the plating process to engineering specifications through utilizing one or a combination of the following: procedures, manual, work instructions, router, and written instructions
- Operates a multi-tank-computerized machine to plate product
- Wears proper PPE while performing tank maintenance such as tank additions, new tank makeup, tank discharge and tank clean outs
- Safely handles spill response and properly handles hazardous waste
- Safely utilizes an electric pallet jack and hoist to move product
- Supports the Environmental Policy and Environmental Management System
- Employee must learn the correct procedures for preparation and approval of manifest and land disposal forms and DOT procedures for shipment of hazardous waste as well as spill response training
- Loads and unloads product from the plating line and dryers
- Performs inspection of finished product per control plan including visual inspection and product gaging
- Responsible for proper labeling and identification of chemicals, waste, hazards and product
- Communicate production status and issues with other operators, supervision and maintenance through meetings and email
- Participates in team meetings and works well with team members
- Actively participates in continuous improvement activities and initiatives to meet team goals
- Maintains equipment and a clean, organized work area following 6S principles
- Operates x-ray machine to measure plating thickness
- Performs daily preventive maintenance
- Performs adhesion testing on product
- Pulls and labels samples of product as needed for process validations
- Move chemical drums utilizing appropriate equipment
- Segregate, document and control non-conforming product
- Collects chemical samples for lab analysis
- Analyzes samples and makes additions to tanks to maintain tank parameters within operating specifications
- Organize and process work based on the due date, emails and other communication
- Performs other tasks as required
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Good verbal, written communication skills as well as basic math skills
- Basic computer knowledge preferred
- 1+ years of plating experience, preferably with zinc plating
Physical Requirements
- Visual acuity for detailed work
- Must be able to lift and maneuver 35 pounds on a skid multiple times per hour
- Must be able to lift a maximum of 50 lbs. from floor to waist, and waist to floor
- Must be able to stand throughout the entire (12-hour shift)
