About the role
Seeking a skilled Performance Test Engineer to design, execute, and analyze performance tests for ArcGIS Pro-based environments. The role involves establishing performance baselines and benchmarks for GIS workflows, evaluating system responsiveness, scalability, resource utilization, and overall platform performance, and collaborating with engineering, infrastructure, development, and architecture teams to resolve identified issues.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute performance, load, stress, endurance/soak, scalability, and baseline testing.
- Establish platform performance baselines with ArcGIS Pro installed and configured.
- Define performance benchmarks and acceptance criteria for GIS operations.
- Develop workload models simulating concurrent users and realistic GIS usage patterns.
- Measure and analyze performance across key GIS workflows, including:
- Map opening and rendering
- Zoom in / Zoom out
- Panning across large datasets
- Feature editing and saving
- Layer refresh and redraw
- Attribute queries and searches
- Geoprocessing execution
- Spatial analysis operations
- Data synchronization and retrieval
- Create and maintain performance test scripts using LoadRunner Enterprise and Apache JMeter.
- Automate performance test execution, monitoring, and reporting.
- Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines where applicable.
- Build reusable performance testing frameworks and assets.
- Monitor client-side and server-side performance metrics during test execution.
- Analyze response times, CPU utilization, memory utilization, disk utilization, network utilization, rendering performance, and transaction throughput.
- Identify performance bottlenecks related to ArcGIS Pro processing, network latency, data layers and services, infrastructure limitations, and client workstation performance.
- Use monitoring and profiling tools to identify root causes of performance issues.
- Create detailed performance assessment reports and dashboards.
- Present performance findings, trends, risks, bottlenecks, and recommendations.
- Collaborate with GIS engineers, infrastructure teams, developers, and architects.
- Participate in root cause analysis and performance tuning activities.
- Provide actionable recommendations for performance optimization and capacity planning.
