Platform Engineer- TS/SCI
About the role
The Platform Engineer will interface with stakeholders to capture requirements, plan the execution of technical requirements, and provide verbal and written briefs to government stakeholders. They will also assist with the deployment and architecture of KERNOS clusters on AWS IL6 environments, create highly available Kubernetes deployments, and manage high availability RKE2 clusters in air-gapped on-prem datacenters.
Responsibilities
- Interface with stakeholders to capture and document requirements
- Plan and execute technical requirements
- Provide verbal and written briefs to government stakeholders
- Assist with deployment and architecture of KERNOS clusters on AWS IL6 environments
- Create highly available Kubernetes deployments
- Manage high availability RKE2 clusters in air-gapped on-prem datacenters
- Create a Kubernetes DevSecOps environment for third-party applications
- Design, automate, and deploy infrastructure as code using Terraform and other tools
- Deploy and manage high availability Kubernetes clusters in an air-gapped environment
- Design and deploy mission-critical systems for mission command on various ILs (IL3, IL5, IL6)
- Assist with SIPR tasks on IL6, including providing a remote SIPR laptop
Requirements
- US citizen with active DoD security clearance of secret or higher
- Experience with Linux Red Hat system administration
- Experience with cloud architecture design, automation, and deployment
- Experience with Kubernetes, specifically RKE2 and other Kubernetes distributions
- Experience with AWS cloud automation tools such as Terraform, GitOps, S3, EKS, AKS, RDS, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.
- Experience with high availability core services such as HA PostgreSQL, Minio, Ingress NGINX, Keycloak, etc.
- Experience with DoD system security requirements and processes such as RMF, DISA STIG, container hardening, security patching, etc.
- Strong technical communication skills
- Experience with networking and familiarity with relevant tools
Qualifications
- Security+ certification
- Kubernetes-related certifications (CKA, CKAD preferred)
- Experience architecting, deploying, and maintaining high availability Kubernetes clusters in an air-gapped environment
- Familiarity with DoD system security requirements and processes
- Strong problem-solving skills and communication skills
- Motivated individual willing to work in a small team environment and assume different responsibilities when required
