Platform Engineer

This role will help engineering teams provision infrastructure, ship code, and access data through self-service workflows while reducing friction and repetitive work. The ideal candidate treats the platform as a product, with strong attention to automation, security, observability, reliability, and cost management. This position reports to the Head of Platform Engineering & AI.Location & Work TypeLocation: Englewood, CO Work Type: OnsiteKey ResponsibilitiesBuild the internal developer platform (IDP): create and maintain self-service workflows, often called Golden Paths, that let developers provision infrastructure and ship code on their ownManage infrastructure as code: automate provisioning and configuration with Terraform or similar tools, so environments stay consistent and repeatableRun CI/CD pipelines: design and maintain the build, test, and deployment pipelines that let engineering ship reliably and often, applying GitOps-style practices where it fitsBuild in observability: set up monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting so teams can see what is happening in their own servicesReport on platform performance: build metrics endpoints and dashboards that make cost, reliability, and delivery performance visible to the rest of the organization on a regular cadenceBake in security and access control: integrate secrets management, least-privilege access, and role-based access control (RBAC) directly into the platformManage cost: track platform spend and help the team make informed tradeoffs on cloud costsSupport containerized workloads: build and maintain the container-based infrastructure most services deploy ontoQualificationsRequired:Programming and automation: strong Python skills, with real experience automating workflows and working against APIsCloud and containers: hands-on experience with a major cloud provider (AWS or Azure) and building on containerized infrastructureCI/CD and delivery practices: solid experience designing and running pipelines, with modern, identity-based authentication for deploymentsInfrastructure as code: experience automating provisioning and configuration with Terraform or similar toolsSecurity mindset: treats security, secrets management, and access control as a core part of the buildCost awareness: comfortable tracking cloud spend and applying FinOps or similar cost-management practices to help the team make informed tradeoffsReporting and transparency: experience exposing performance or usage metrics through APIs or dashboards that people outside the immediate team can see and useWorking with developers: comfortable treating the platform's users as customers: gathering feedback, explaining tradeoffs, and adjusting course based on what actually helps them shipPreferred (Optional):Experience building or maintaining self-hosted CI/CD infrastructure across cloud and on-premises environmentsExperience with observability or log management platformsFamiliarity with hybrid on-premises and cloud environmentsExposure to cloud cost management or FinOps practicesCertifications are a plus but not weighted heavily. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
