Platform Engineer

Indiana Farmers Insurance is looking for a Platform Engineer to join our Information Technology team in or around Indianapolis, IN. This role is ideal for someone passionate about designing secure, reliable technology solutions built for future growth, with a focus on modern cloud technologies and infrastructure automation.

About the role

The Platform Engineer will design, implement, and continuously improve our hybrid infrastructure with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure Cloud services while supporting enterprise on-premises systems. You’ll lead cloud modernization initiatives, automate infrastructure, solve complex technical challenges, and collaborate with application teams, Information Security, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable technology solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms, networking, and systems administration
• Lead cloud modernization initiatives using Microsoft Azure within enterprise organizations
• Develop automation using PowerShell, Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, or similar platforms
• Solve complex technical challenges and make data-driven recommendations
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including application teams, Information Security, and business stakeholders
• Apply project management skills to plan, organize, lead, and manage large projects
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may substitute
• Five to ten years of progressive experience in enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms, and systems administration
• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to evaluate, interpret, and act on data
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated experience designing and supporting Microsoft Azure cloud environments
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
