Plate Buyer

Meyer Utility Structures is searching for a Plate (Steel) Buyer for our Clinton, Illinois, and Tulsa, Oklahoma, plants. This role involves purchasing metal plates (such as steel or aluminum) to support operations at both locations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate incoming movement of steel products and delivery services to ensure material availability and on-time delivery to meet production schedules
• Compile data on order volume, production schedules, and forecasts
• Prepare and process purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services, and supplies for customer-related business or internal use
• Plan, schedule, and monitor inbound movement of materials from suppliers
• Determine material requirements and coordinate the efficient movement of materials with purchasing, production, and engineering teams
• Coordinate information and activities with other team members
• Exchange information with third parties, vendors, or customers as needed
• Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required

Requirements

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
• Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Excel
• Proven ability to stay organized while multitasking
• Minimum of 2 years of procurement experience (preferred)
• Experience in steel purchasing (preferred)
• High level of dependability, a positive attitude, and the ability to work well in a team environment
