Responsible for the accurate and timely sampling, testing, shipping, and storage of plasma collected from donors. Reports to the Assistant Center Manager.
Responsibilities
- Collect plasma samples and move plasma units to freezer in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure product quality.
- Ensure plasma units, including unsuitable plasma units and samples, are properly stored according to SOPs.
- Verify accuracy of unit labeling by matching the pre-printed label with the dynamic label.
- Utilize sterile technique to draw samples and use a heat sealer to maintain sterility and quality of plasma unit samples per SOPs.
- Pack and ship samples and units in accordance with SOPs and center procedures; prepare shipping and unit disposal documentation.
- Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures; report malfunctions immediately and record variances.
- Conduct daily calibration of equipment according to SOPs.
- Accurately record donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in SOPs.
- Understand policies and procedures associated with hyper-immune programs at the center, if applicable.
- Maintain a clean and efficient work environment; ensure sufficient operating supplies and forms are available.
- Follow all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures; promote safety in all actions.
- Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
- May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs.
- Bilingual skills may be required to meet business needs.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of three (3) months experience in a laboratory or warehouse environment preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations.
Working Conditions

- Reach, bend, kneel, and demonstrate high manual dexterity.

- Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Frequently exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and bloodborne pathogens.
- Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing specific tasks or in certain areas.
- Required to work overtime and extended hours to support center operational needs.
Pay
Expected base pay for this position at hiring is $16.61/hour - $18.13/hour. Individual base pay is determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies, and other relevant factors.
