Plasma Processing Technician

Responsibilities

  • Collects plasma samples and moves plasma units to freezer.
  • Ensures plasma units are properly stored according to SOPs.
  • Verifies the accuracy of unit labeling.
  • Utilizes sterile technique to draw samples and uses heat sealer to maintain plasma unit samples' sterility and quality.
  • Packs and ships plasma units in accordance with SOPs and center procedures.
  • Prepares shipping and unit disposal documentation.
  • Maintains freezer and refrigerator temperatures and reports malfunctioning equipment.
  • Records temperature variances and conducts daily equipment calibration.
  • Accurately records donor data in the electronic donor information management system.
  • Understands and follows hyper immune program policies if applicable.
  • Maintains a clean and efficient work environment.
  • Fulfills HSE and OSHA policies and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality of personnel, donor, and center information.
  • May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs.
  • May require bilingual skills, at the discretion of the organization.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three (3) months experience in laboratory or warehouse environment preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic math calculations ability.
  • Understanding, remembering, and applying oral and/or written instructions.
  • Ability to see, speak with customers, and observe equipment operation.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds.
  • Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood borne pathogens.
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas.
  • Ability to work overtime and extended hours to support center operational needs.
