Responsibilities
- Collects plasma samples and moves plasma units to freezer.
- Ensures plasma units are properly stored according to SOPs.
- Verifies the accuracy of unit labeling.
- Utilizes sterile technique to draw samples and uses heat sealer to maintain plasma unit samples' sterility and quality.
- Packs and ships plasma units in accordance with SOPs and center procedures.
- Prepares shipping and unit disposal documentation.
- Maintains freezer and refrigerator temperatures and reports malfunctioning equipment.
- Records temperature variances and conducts daily equipment calibration.
- Accurately records donor data in the electronic donor information management system.
- Understands and follows hyper immune program policies if applicable.
- Maintains a clean and efficient work environment.
- Fulfills HSE and OSHA policies and procedures.
- Maintains confidentiality of personnel, donor, and center information.
- May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs.
- May require bilingual skills, at the discretion of the organization.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of three (3) months experience in laboratory or warehouse environment preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic math calculations ability.
- Understanding, remembering, and applying oral and/or written instructions.
- Ability to see, speak with customers, and observe equipment operation.
- Occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds.
- Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood borne pathogens.
- Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas.
- Ability to work overtime and extended hours to support center operational needs.
