About the role

Responsible for the accurate and timely sampling, testing, shipping, and storage of plasma collected from donors.

Responsibilities

  • In compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), collect plasma samples and move plasma units to freezer to ensure product quality.
  • Ensure plasma units are properly stored according to SOPs, including unsuitable plasma units and samples.
  • Verify the accuracy of unit labeling by matching the pre-printed label with the dynamic label.
  • Utilize sterile technique to draw samples and use a heat sealer to assure sterility and quality of plasma unit samples per SOPs.
  • Pack and ship samples and units in accordance with SOPs and center procedures; prepare shipping and unit disposal documentation.
  • Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures; immediately inform appropriate personnel if equipment malfunctions and record variances.
  • Conduct daily calibration of equipment according to SOPs.
  • Accurately record donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in the SOPs.
  • Understand policies and procedures associated with hyper-immune programs at the center, if applicable.
  • Maintain a clean and efficient work environment; ensure sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed. Follow all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures. Promote safety in all actions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
  • May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs.
  • Bilingual skills may be required to meet business needs.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three (3) months experience in a laboratory or warehouse environment preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to perform basic math calculations.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions.
  • Ability to understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines.
  • Must be able to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.
  • Occasionally perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of the time.
  • Reach, bend, kneel, and have a high level of manual dexterity.
  • Occasionally required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Frequently exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and bloodborne pathogens.
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas.
  • Required to work overtime and extended hours to support center operational needs.

Pay

The expected base pay for this position at hiring is $16.61/hour - $18.13/hour. Individual base pay within this range is determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies, and other relevant factors.
