Plasma Operator

About the role

Red Dot Buildings is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Plasma Machine Operator to join our structural steel fabrication team in Athens, Texas. In this hands-on manufacturing role, you will operate plasma cutting equipment according to established run sheets, identify and organize finished parts and use oxygen-acetylene cutting equipment to process excess material.

Responsibilities

• Operate plasma cutting equipment according to established production run sheets and work instructions
• Review run sheets to ensure the correct material and parts are being processed
• Monitor the plasma cutting process and identify issues that could affect safety, quality or production
• Use an oxygen and acetylene torch to safely cut and process excess or scrap material
• Identify and properly label cut parts
• Sort and organize finished parts in the correct sequence for the next stage of production
• Track and maintain heat numbers to support accurate material traceability
• Verify that parts and materials remain properly identified throughout the production process
• Inspect completed work for accuracy and quality
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area
• Follow all Red Dot safety procedures, work instructions and production requirements
• Communicate equipment, material or quality concerns to the appropriate supervisor
• Perform additional production duties as needed

Requirements

• Plasma cutting or CNC plasma machine operation
• Structural steel or metal fabrication
• Oxygen-acetylene torch cutting
• CNC or industrial machine operation
• Reading production run sheets, work orders or fabrication instructions
• Identifying, labeling and organizing fabricated parts
• Material tracking or heat-number traceability
