PLANT & YARD WORKER

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Must be 18 years or older
• Valid Hawaii State Driver’s License and ability to drive an automobile or pickup truck
• Ability to work night shift, overtime, and weekends as required
• Saturday work required
• Mechanically inclined
• One year of previous experience
• Must become a member of ILWU Local 142

Responsibilities

• Operate skid steer loader and other manual equipment to maintain a safe and clean work environment around crushing, maintenance, and batch plant equipment
• Assist mechanics and other personnel with minor repairs as required
• Perform basic crusher/conveyor maintenance and servicing
• Change conveyor belting, idlers, rollers, skirt board, screens, and all other wear parts requiring frequent repair or replacement
• Check mechanical condition of equipment as required
• Assist mechanics on emergency and minor repairs
• Report unsafe conditions and mechanical defects on equipment
• Perform pre- and post-operational checks (oil, water, fuel levels, lights, braking system, tires)
• Maintain cleanliness and proper appearance of equipment; make minor repairs when necessary
• Perform repair and replacement maintenance on all wear parts
• Perform similar, comparable, or related duties as assigned or required
• Always work safely and take action to prevent unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors

Skills & Abilities

• Ability to work in varying environments, from air-conditioned offices to hot, dusty, muddy field conditions
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs, and withstand heights
• Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 60 pounds
