About the role
The Plant Sitter role at House Plant Sitting is a contract, on-site position based in New York, NY.
Responsibilities
- Visit clients’ homes to water, prune, and monitor a variety of houseplants, ensuring proper light, temperature, and humidity conditions.
- Follow individualized care instructions provided by clients.
- Check for pests or disease and take appropriate preventative or responsive actions.
- Adjust care routines as needed based on plant health and client feedback.
- Document plant status with notes or photos.
- Communicate with clients about plant health, schedule visits, and maintain a professional and trustworthy presence in client homes.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of basic plant care, including watering schedules, light requirements, and soil/repotting practices.
- Ability to identify common houseplant pests and diseases and take appropriate preventative or responsive actions.
- Reliable time management skills and the ability to plan and complete multiple client visits in a day.
- Clear, professional communication skills to discuss care instructions and provide updates to clients.
- A high level of integrity, respect for client property, and comfort working independently in client homes.
- Experience with houseplants (personal or professional); prior pet or plant sitting, horticulture, or gardening experience is a plus.
