About the role

Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Quality Manager is accountable for overseeing and improving overall plant quality through the implementation of process quality systems, while ensuring all quality-related issues are addressed to achieve maximum efficiency. This position works in collaboration with Metal North America Quality Systems, Operating strategy, and Personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintenance of plant quality systems including inspection and test methods, work instructions, procedures, product specs, and GMPs.
  • Develop and drive continuous improvement initiatives in plant quality.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in supplier quality.
  • Ensure quality system adherence and all aspects of product integrity are maintained.
  • Responsible for appropriate disposition of finished product through data-driven analysis, while assuring compliance to all specifications.
  • Maintain established and new customer contact to build strong relationships, resolve quality issues, and ensure technical and quality support.
  • Lead plant root cause and corrective action investigations for customer complaints and internal quality nonconformances.
  • Audit implementation of corrective actions for customer complaints and internal quality nonconformances.
  • Coordinate with Metal North America Commercial, Product Development, Quality, and Engineering regarding new business and product trials.
  • Ensure accurate and timely resolution of all supplier defective material claims.
  • Track the HFI system including balance, disposition, re-work, and inventory levels.
  • Ensure plant quality procedures are up to date, aligned with Metal North America Quality requirements, and followed.
  • Communicate quality objectives (KPIs) with floor personnel and develop processes to promote compliance.
  • Educate and instruct plant departmental leads and supervisors in HACCP, internal auditing, and other food safety quality (BRC) programs.
  • Prepare quality reviews and submit them to management.
  • Assist in the development of special plant projects and work in conjunction with Metal North America Personnel.
  • Maintain continuous communication and interaction with all Ardagh Metal Packaging plants.
  • Work closely with human resources to address and resolve personnel issues.
  • Direct supervision of plant personnel; may vary by location.
  • Responsibility for environmental and sustainability initiatives for the site, acting as an EH&S representative.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in manufacturing.
  • 4 years of quality experience.
  • Excellent management/leadership aptitude.
  • Strong analytical, computer, and communication skills.
  • Driven and energetic with the ability to solve complex problems outside of normal processes.
  • Ability to work with all levels of personnel.
  • Black or Green Belt Certification (preferred).
  • Food Safety (BRC/SQF) and HACCP certification (preferred).
  • Experience with can manufacturing improvement methods implementation (preferred).
