About the role
As a Plant Operator II at Moffitt, you will perform demand and scheduled preventive maintenance of facility equipment, primarily focusing on Mechanical, Utilities, and associated systems in accordance with departmental, hospital, and regulatory agency codes. This role involves maintaining facilities and equipment in a hospital or clinic environment.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates technical knowledge depth for mechanical, utilities, and associated systems according to management-established standards.
- Identifies and uses different types of mechanical-specific tools and materials, applying basic math skills.
- Performs general maintenance repairs and other duties as assigned, adhering to the Unit Specific Competency Check List.
- Responds to emergency situations, including disaster response, power/utility loss, and floods, to minimize facility impact.
- Ensures all work is performed using proper PPE, including Arc Flash safety measures.
- Demonstrates proficiency in using basic power and hand tools safely and maintaining them properly.
- Uses maintenance equipment, including hand-held power tools, building automation computers, and computerized maintenance management systems.
- Provides complete documentation for work orders and regulatory compliance.
- Performs basic infection prevention procedures.
- Identifies and communicates needed changes on blueprints and notifies supervisors of updates to existing spaces or new projects.
- Works from blueprints to estimate projects and create bills of materials.
- Plans, organizes, and coordinates small projects.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills required for a Third-Grade Stationary Engineer’s license.
- Assists with, oversees, and/or inspects repairs or modifications performed by contractors.
- Manages individual inventory following departmental inventory management and control parameters.
- Demonstrates safe work practices, OSHA compliance, effective communication, and customer service skills.
- Applies troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to maintenance and repair processes.
- Maintains mechanical-related equipment and procedure documentation manuals.
- Identifies different types of solder and their usage, as well as mechanical-specific materials and their applications.
- Demonstrates knowledge of condensate pump components and functionality.
- Performs other duties as assigned within management expectations.
Requirements
- Five (5) years of experience in Mechanical/Facilities maintenance, with two (2) years in plant operations.
- Ability to work various shifts and weekends as needed.
- Ability to travel between Moffitt Cancer Center facilities.
- Evidence of a good driving record, maintained per Moffitt policy.
- High School Diploma.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years of Hospital Maintenance experience.
- One (1) year of high-rise Mechanical and/or Utilities systems experience.
Pay
Salary range: $30.47 - $46.49 per hour. Actual compensation may vary based on location, experience, skills, education, and internal equity.
