PLANT OPERATOR

About the role

Rogers Group, Inc., headquartered in Nashville, is a privately held aggregates and asphalt highway construction company operating in 13 states with over 3,500 employees. Established in 1908, RGI is the largest privately held aggregate producer in the United States. This Plant Operator position is based in Staunton, VA, reporting to the Plant Manager and supporting Virginia SMA construction operations.

Pay

Wage starts at $21.00/hr. Starting wage will be based on verifiable experience.

Schedule

• Full-time
• Schedules subject to change
• Weekends and nights as needed
• Overtime required as needed

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy equipment and machinery
• Perform daily pre- and post-inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies
• Perform servicing and maintenance of equipment as trained and directed by management
• Operate equipment with a high degree of competency, skill, and proficiency
• Properly follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA/environmental regulations for safe working procedures and environment
• Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

• Uncompromising focus on safety excellence
• Asphalt experience preferred
• 1+ years of experience as a plant operator preferred
• Able to perform safety and maintenance inspections throughout the day
• Capable of demonstrating equipment and troubleshooting knowledge
• Experience working with crushers, conveyors, and screens preferred
• Ability to understand basic safety and work instructions
• Must be able to work flexible hours, nights, and overtime as needed
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
• Good organizational, scheduling, and time management skills
• Welding experience helpful along with general maintenance and repair abilities
• Experience in heavy equipment operation
• Team player mentality
• Willingness to work outdoors in varied weather conditions with exposure to dust, noise, heat, and cold
• Must pass pre-employment drug testing
