Plant Operator

About the role

The Plant Operator oversees the daily operation of the ready-mix concrete plant and sales of aggregates, ensuring efficient production, quality control, and compliance with safety standards. This role involves operating batching equipment, monitoring material inventory, and coordinating with dispatch and drivers to meet customer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate truck weight scales and batching controls to produce ready-mix concrete according to specifications.
• Monitor and maintain material inventory (cement, aggregates, admixtures) for continuous production.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on plant equipment.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Communicate with dispatch and drivers to coordinate timely deliveries.
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues promptly to minimize downtime.
• Maintain accurate production and maintenance records.
• Keep plant and yard clean and organized.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience in ready-mix concrete or similar plant operations.
• Knowledge of batching systems and concrete mix designs.
• Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in outdoor conditions (heat, cold, dust).
• Lift up to 50 lbs and climb ladders or stairs as needed.

Schedule

Full-time; may include overtime, and some weekends are required.
