Plant Operator

As a leading provider of diversified minerals, our products support a variety of industrial markets, including glass, ceramics, coatings, metals, foundry, polymers, construction, water filtration, and sports and recreation. The Plant Operator at our Menomonie, WI location will ensure the safe and productive operation of the plant, demonstrating aptitude for multiple disciplines and proficiency in operating equipment across all functional areas.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 12pm - 8pm

Responsibilities

• Work in a safe manner and abide by all Covia and MSHA safety rules, regulations, and best practices.
• Carry out activities in a way that does not expose the worker or others to unacceptable risk.
• Adhere to site procedures and instructions given by supervisors.
• Operate mobile and stationary equipment safely and efficiently to reduce damage, downtime, and quality issues.
• Complete required paperwork in an orderly, accurate, and professional fashion.
• Perform physical job duties, including:
  • Walking on uneven ground, up and down hills, and flights of stairs.
  • Climbing ladders and working at height.
  • Wearing a respirator, safety harness, safety glasses, hard hat, and other personal protective equipment.
  • Working in year-round outdoor conditions, including hot, cold, and wet weather.
  • Pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying 50 pounds on a continuous basis.
• Perform preventive maintenance activities and assist in minor and major maintenance repairs as directed.
• Assist with continuous improvement projects as necessary.
• Perform all other duties as needed or assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience in an industrial environment is a plus.
• Basic computer skills and data entry are required.
• Prior HMI and shipping software experience is a plus.
• Previous experience operating heavy equipment is a plus.
• Previous experience within mining operations is a plus.
• Must possess the ability to perform in a physically demanding environment.
• Must be available for shift work, weekends, and overtime.
