About the role
Framatome's Installed Base Engineering organization is seeking a Plant Operations Engineer. This position may be located in Lynchburg, VA, or worked remotely (depending on the experience level of the applicant).
Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of the most complex engineering assignments in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks, and resolution of field problems.
- Provides assistance and instruction on most assignments and solutions.
- Ensures compliance with government, organization, and customer engineering standards.
- Independently evaluates, selects, and applies a variety of technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making more complex adaptations and modifications.
- Develops new or adapted products, methods, systems, or models to provide added value solutions to customers.
- Researches and assesses best practices, proposing methods, and improvements.
- Works on special projects, as directed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
- Advanced knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques, and criteria.
- Good communication skills to comprehend and convey detailed technical data.
- Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships; work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Advanced problem identification and problem resolution skills.
- Displays leadership characteristics.
- Exhibits questioning attitude and practices self-checking.
- Advanced level of specific software tools (CAD, FEA, CFD) and programming skills.
- Senior Reactor Operator and/or Shift Technical Advisor Certification, with experience in multiple plant areas (Primary, Engineered Safeguards, BOP, Turbine Cycle).
- Experience with Babcock & Wilcox, Westinghouse, or CE Plant Operating Procedures, Emergency Operating Plant Procedures, and Severe Accident Management Guidelines.
- Experience with PWROG Procedures Subcommittee.
- Familiarity with NRC regulatory requirements and guidance for the applications to construct and operate nuclear power plants (e.g., 10 CFR 50.55a, 10 CFR 50 Appendices A and B, NUREG-0800), familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel code, and familiarity with configuration management of a system design.
- Experience with NRC Staff / ACRS (e.g., presentations to regulatory authorities).
