About the Role
Directly accountable for providing leadership and tactical direction to a team of professional and technical resources responsible for the effective and efficient operations and maintenance of combined cycle combustion turbine generating facilities and associated equipment. This role drives recruitment, training, performance management, and rewards to build a team that ensures reliable production of electric energy meeting power supply needs. The position holds the team accountable for safe operations and compliance with all regulatory requirements, corporate standards, policies, and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Drives and engages team members in the safe and economical operation and maintenance of the facility to ensure continuous availability as a reliable and economical power generation resource.
- Provides a safe and productive work environment aligned with organizational culture, purpose, core values, and goals.
- Leads and fosters a strong safety culture, including implementation and administration of an effective safety program in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborates with corporate partners to staff, train, develop, recognize, and reward team members based on performance, ensuring a highly engaged and capable team.
- Manages preventative maintenance programs, processes, and timely repairs/upgrades to maximize availability and service life of plant systems and equipment.
- Monitors and analyzes plant performance to identify improvement opportunities or potential issues, ensuring preventative or remedial measures for optimal performance.
- Directs, oversees, and participates in establishing, reviewing, and revising facility practices and procedures for clarity, consistency, and proper communication.
- Establishes, oversees, and monitors work plans and budgets to ensure fiscal compliance.
- Leads training and development programs to equip team members with the tools for success.
- Plans, establishes, communicates, and monitors team member goals to align performance with departmental and organizational objectives.
- Supports short and long-range planning consistent with plant, departmental, and organizational goals.
- Supports employee relations initiatives to foster positive relationships among team members.
- Assists the Director and Executive Team in presentations to Board committees and interactions with the Seminole Board of Trustees, conveying plant functions and activities.
- Engages physically throughout the plant site, interacts with team members, and provides direct guidance or substitutes in absences as needed.
- Ensures compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements, including environmental, reliability standards, and safety regulations.
- Performs NERC Compliance Program roles as designated, including evidence retention for audits.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- BS Degree in Engineering; or High School Diploma or equivalent and eight (8) years of direct operations and maintenance experience in a utility-based electric generation plant environment.
- Eight (8) years of progressive leadership experience operating and/or maintaining a large utility-based electric power plant, including at least five (5) years with combined-cycle power generation technology and three (3) years at the management level.
- Proven track record of leadership to meet goals and foster continuous improvement and operational effectiveness.

Physical Requirements
- Must follow established protective measures, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.
Working Conditions
- Some travel and work outside of normal business hours, including extended hours, nights, and weekends as plant conditions require.
- Occasional travel for training, inspections, or equipment-related activities.
- Potential exposure to industrial hazards while working in certain plant areas; expected to access all areas of the plant and equipment.
