About the role
The Plant Manager is a senior operations leader responsible for the overall performance of manufacturing and assembly operations, including production, quality, safety, maintenance, and financial results. This role translates corporate strategy into effective plant-level execution, ensuring electrical components and systems are assembled efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with customer specifications and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute production schedules to meet customer demand, project timelines, and inventory targets.
- Monitor and optimize assembly line performance by identifying bottlenecks and implementing data-driven process improvements.
- Ensure equipment reliability through effective preventive maintenance programs and timely resolution of mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
- Oversee daily plant operations to ensure efficient workflow, resource utilization, and adherence to production goals.
- Enforce quality management standards (e.g., ISO, Six Sigma) to ensure all electrical assemblies meet technical specifications and customer requirements.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for production defects, non-conformances, and customer quality issues.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, including OSHA and EPA standards.
- Promote a culture of quality ownership and continuous improvement across all levels of the organization.
- Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets; monitor financial performance against established targets.
- Partner with corporate leadership to support strategic initiatives, including capacity planning, expansion, and technology implementation.
- Identify and implement cost reduction and efficiency improvement opportunities using lean manufacturing principles.
- Align plant objectives with broader organizational goals to drive sustainable growth and operational excellence.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing and assembly operations, including production scheduling, workflow optimization, and materials management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams in a multi-shift production environment.
- Expertise in quality management systems and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., ISO standards, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma).
- Working knowledge of safety and environmental regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA) and ability to enforce compliance.
- Proven ability to analyze operational data, identify inefficiencies, and implement effective, data-driven solutions.
- Financial acumen, including experience managing operating and capital budgets and driving cost control initiatives.
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills applied to production, quality, and operational challenges.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Strategic thinking and planning capability, with the ability to align plant operations to broader business objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, Business, or a related field.
- Licensed electrician, IBEW Journeyman or Master Electrician helpful.
- 7–10 years of progressive experience in manufacturing or assembly operations, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role (e.g., Production Manager, Operations Manager, or Plant Manager).
