Plant Manager l

About the role

The Plant Manager at Sibelco organizes, optimizes, and continually improves operational, production, and maintenance activities while upholding Sibelc​o’s values and policies. The role drives a Zero Harm approach to safety, delivers first‑class service to customers, maintains a competitive cost position, and ensures the highest standards of process, quality, environmental, legal, health, and safety compliance. The manager also develops talent, implements Operational Excellence principles, and fosters continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the safety of plant personnel; leads and supports the safety program and training.
• Manages and directs production operations and functions.
• Ensures quality and regulatory compliance of all products while meeting customer needs and expectations.
• Identifies and initiates Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement techniques to improve quality, eliminate waste, reduce costs, and boost productivity.
• Completes budgetary plans, cost‑control activities, and reporting.
• Participates actively in scheduling and performance meetings.
• Manages production and maintenance OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
• Directs, oversees, and assists with recruiting, training, personnel development, and optimal functioning of sites in the cluster.
• Develops supervisors and operators through coaching, training, delegation, and accountability.
• Audits, solves problems, improves plant operations, and facilitates investigations and corrective actions for quality and safety events; trains supervisors in these efforts.
• Remains calm and focused during times of change and uncertainty, effectively guiding others.
• Accepts risk and uncertainty as part of business‑as‑usual and makes confident decisions even with incomplete information.
• Maneuvers effectively through complex or uncertain situations.
• Builds on the strength of diverse teams to efficiently achieve goals.
• Communicates with conviction and clarity in all situations.

• Determines, communicates, and drives Sibelco’s key processes and procedures while continuously improving them.

• Draws on a variety of resources to define problems and make informed decisions.
• Strong business acumen; past P&L responsibility is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with a focus in electrical or mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience.
• M.B.A. – a plus.
• 8+ years of experience in a leadership role within an industrial manufacturing environment or a related industry (e.g., glass recycling).
• Experience handling turnaround challenges.
• Bilingual (Spanish) speaking – preferred.
