Responsibilities
- Supervises and participates in custodial work including cleaning, gardening, and facility operation.
- Selects materials and equipment for cleaning various surfaces.
- Analyzes custodial needs and recommends priorities for the custodial program.
- Assigns special custodial duties for educational, social, and civic activities.
- Operates and supervises low-pressure heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems.
- Maintains inspection records and reports needs for repairs.
- Trains and instructs assigned custodial personnel.
- Orders, receives, checks, and disburses custodial and school supplies and equipment.
- Safely lifts and moves heavy supplies and equipment.
- Operates and supervises the use of various operations equipment.
- Issues keys, keeps records, and maintains a supply of spare keys.
Requirements
- Promotional status from LAUSD with 130 paid days in regular status in the Classified Service or permanent status in the Certificated Service, or laid-off within the past 39 months.
- Graduation from high school or evidence of equivalent educational proficiency.
- Four years as a Plant Manager II or Plant Manager III, or above.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of principles, materials, and methods of custodial work.
- Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate custodial personnel.
- Ability to recognize maintenance needs and initiate appropriate action.
- Ability to make and adjust schedules.
- Ability to maintain records and prepare concise reports.
- Ability to operate and care for operations equipment.
- Ability to make minor repairs to facilities and equipment.
- Ability to work harmoniously with school personnel and the public.
- Ability to operate a computer and peripheral equipment.
Skills
- Safe and efficient operation of low-pressure and other heating equipment, ventilating and air conditioning systems, and other building equipment.
- Electrical systems in building and grounds operation.
- Fire and safety ordinances and regulations affecting school buildings.
- Methods and materials used in minor maintenance of buildings and equipment.
- Principles of supervision and obligations of supervisors under the provisions of the labor agreement applicable to subordinates.
- Basic personnel and payroll rules and procedures.
