About the role

The Plant Manager in Training program prepares future operational leaders through hands-on experience in salvage yard operations. Trained Plant Managers will oversee production, sales, inventory, safety, customer service, and administrative functions while adhering to all applicable regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Train to oversee all departments for the specific facility, focusing on production, sales, administration, and distribution.
  • Manage human resources by hiring, terminating, and reassigning personnel as needed.
  • Review financials for accuracy, comparing to budget and taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Interact with customers to identify service needs and implement improvements.
  • Formulate procedural changes to handle products for high-quality standards.
  • Oversee quality control and implement necessary changes.
  • Chair plant meetings as required.
  • Administer disciplinary action as necessary.
  • Attend national plant managers' meetings as required.
  • Maintain communication within the plant, region, and company networks.
  • Initiate and support continuous improvement of the Pick Your Part quality improvement system.
  • Assume other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
  • Preferred: 5+ years' experience in the automotive industry.
  • Proficiency in fundamental math skills, including working with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, and analyzing rates, ratios, percentages, and graphs.
  • Frequent use of Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to create, maintain, and incorporate functions into various document types to support business objectives.
  • Regularly uses moderately complex oral and written skills, trains others in functional areas, interacts with others, and makes presentations to department or middle management.
  • Handles multiple tasks or projects simultaneously with moderate complexity.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Not responsible for supervising employees.

Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Occasionally stands, walks, pushes, pulls, squats, bends, reaches, climbs stairs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or sits for extended periods.
  • Exposed to hazardous situations, conditions, and equipment.
  • May need to get into awkward positions due to cramped spaces or under vehicles.
  • May regularly wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • May be exposed to extreme temperatures and high noise levels.
  • Travel may be required periodically, including overnight stays (contingent on position requirements).
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
