Plant Manager
About the role
The Plant Manager plays a significant role in our company, providing direction and leadership to the operations, engineering, maintenance, logistics, and quality departments. This role supports corporate profit objectives through continuous improvement in machinery, practices, and procedures that reduce product costs, maintain high product quality standards, and enhance employee satisfaction. The role also drives improvement programs and systems (Lean) and ensures high product quality for customer delivery.
Location: Northlake, IL
Compensation: $180K - $220K
Responsibilities
- Provide sound budgeting and planning for manufacturing and support operations.
- Manage and lead in a Lean environment.
- Ensure customer satisfaction and trust regarding product quality and on-time performance.
- Optimize scrap control, manufacturing efficiency (OEE), and costs.
- Ensure compliance with US FDA, Dairy, HACCP, AIB, and other product safety requirements.
- Lead the facility’s Product Safety Systems, Employee Safety Systems, and their committees.
- Support quality systems, including NPA-SAFE and customer-required systems.
- Foster open communications and trust with all employees.
- Ensure sound Preventive Maintenance and Repair Programs (TPM).
- Conduct management meetings to establish policies, coordinate functions, and review objectives.
- Analyze and evaluate business situations, production capabilities, and manufacturing problems.
- Keep the management team informed of significant issues and improvement actions.
- Facilitate employee teams to improve cohesiveness and results.
- Develop strategies to improve productivity and efficiency.
- Review technical problems and recommend solutions or procedural changes.
- Participate in capital planning, implementation, and new product development.
- Oversee personnel orientation, training, and development programs.
- Establish and communicate performance metrics to upper management and key customers.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities, including hiring, training, and performance management.
- Oversee food safety compliance.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a technical field from an accredited four-year college or university.
