Plant Manager
Location: Northlake, IL
Compensation: $180K - $220K
About the Role
The Plant Manager plays a significant role in our company, providing direction and leadership to the operations, engineering, maintenance, logistics, and quality departments. This role supports corporate profit objectives through continuous improvement in machinery, practices, and procedures that reduce product costs, maintain high product quality standards, and enhance employee satisfaction. The role also drives improvement programs and systems (Lean) and ensures leadership in maintaining high product quality to deliver quality products to customers.
Responsibilities
- Provide sound budgeting and planning for manufacturing and support operations.
- Manage and lead in a Lean environment.
- Ensure customer satisfaction and trust regarding product quality and on-time performance.
- Ensure optimum effectiveness in scrap control, manufacturing efficiency (OEE), and costs.
- Ensure an effective Product Safety environment by adhering to US FDA, Dairy, HACCP, AIB, and all other agreed-upon product safety requirements.
- Provide leadership for the facility’s Product Safety Systems, Employee Safety Systems, and their committees.
- Support quality systems, including efforts regarding NPA-SAFE and customer-required systems.
- Foster an environment of open communications and trust with all employees.
- Ensure sound Preventive Maintenance and Repair Programs (TPM).
- Conduct management meetings to establish, delineate, and review policies, coordinate functions, and establish responsibilities to attain objectives.
- Analyze, evaluate, and present information concerning business situations, production capabilities, manufacturing problems, and new product design for management consideration.
- Keep the management team informed of significant issues or developments and actions taken to improve situations.
- Facilitate employee teams to build cohesiveness and improve overall results.
- Develop strategies and programs to improve productivity and efficiency.
- Review technical problems and recommend solutions or procedure changes.
- Participate in capital planning, implementation, and new product development efforts.
- Ensure practical personnel orientation, training, and development programs.
- Establish operating indicators (metrics) to measure departmental performance and communicate this to upper management and key customers.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities, including hiring, training, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding, coaching, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
- Oversee food safety.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field from an accredited four-year college or university.
