About the role
MSA Safety is a purpose-driven company committed to deploying innovation and technology to help protect people and assets worldwide. We are seeking a Plant Manager to lead our manufacturing plant in Murrysville, PA.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and vision by setting strategy, driving employee engagement, and maintaining the right mix of skills and staff size to achieve organizational objectives.
- Establish objectives for direct reports, monitor progress, and provide coaching to achieve desired results.
- Translate broader corporate initiatives into plant-specific action plans.
- Lead and promote the use of the MSA Operating System at all levels within the organization.
- Develop strong working relationships with key company functions (Engineering, Marketing, Sales, etc.).
- Create and foster an environment for a high-performance team.
- Performance manage and develop the plant team.
- Drive safe practices in all aspects of the plant and engage associates in proactive safety and ergonomic programs, including Behavior Based Safety.
- Ensure systems and procedures meet OSHA and other regulatory compliance requirements.
- Ensure products are produced in accordance with design requirements and the MSA Quality Management System.
- Resolve customer issues in a timely manner.
- Establish production processes to meet customers’ delivery expectations.
- Drive continuous improvement activities and collaborate on projects to reduce product costs.
- Collaborate with New Product Development (NPD) teams to introduce new products into production on schedule and within budget.
- Develop and drive performance to the annual budget; manage and report on plant performance for customer service, quality, safety, and financial compliance.
- Apply business analytics and financial analysis to drive decisions.
- Identify short- and long-term needs for capital equipment for the plant.

- Experience in SIOP process and Supply Chain management.
Qualifications
This position is available at multiple career levels based on experience and education:
- Level I: B.S. degree in a related field or equivalent. 5+ years of production supervision or project management experience. 5+ years of Production/Plant Management or equivalent Project Management experience.
- Level II: B.S. degree in a related field or equivalent. 5+ years of production supervision or project management experience. 7+ years of Production/Plant Management or equivalent Project Management experience.
- Level III: 7+ years of production supervision or project management experience. 7+ years of Production/Plant Management or equivalent Project Management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s or advanced degree or certification.
- Experience managing others in supervisory roles across multiple departments or shifts.
- Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma principles.
- Familiarity with the MSA Operating System.
- Experience leading Lean, Six-Sigma, Continuous Improvement, or EHS initiatives, or implementing new processes.
This is an onsite position located in Murrysville, PA.
