About the role
JELD-WEN is seeking a Plant Manager to oversee all plant operations, focusing on production and driving key performance indicators (KPIs) such as SQDCI, TPS, OTD, and Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Direct and manage all plant operations in accordance with JELD-WEN’s Mission Statement and KPIs
- Coordinate plant activities by working with Production and Departmental Managers to ensure timely, cost-effective manufacturing objectives
- Establish overall plant performance for safety, production, and quality standards
- Develop, control, and implement the plant budget to maximize profits by utilizing SQDCI, TPS, OTD, and CI initiatives
- Implement cost-effective systems of control over operating expenditures, manpower, wages, and manage capital projects
- Work with R&D and Engineering in developing scope of work
- Oversee the implementation of safety, preventative maintenance, and driving safety procedures
- Incorporate shop floor organization with applicable Engineering personnel to ensure effective production processes
- Hire and develop staff
- Ability to read/interpret product drawings and schematics
- Ability to coach managerial personnel, and instill cultural values
- Superior motivational skills, ability to train/drive CI methods
- Travel up to 15% +/+
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, or related field or Associate’s degree in a related field with 10 years’ experience in a managerial capacity at JELD-WEN may be substituted for advanced degrees or an equivalent combination of education/experience at the discretion of management
- 7-10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the sawmill and millwork industry
- Strong knowledge of business, finance, quality control systems
- Advanced leadership, technical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead and drive manufacturing process improvement techniques
- Advanced knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing process improvement techniques including, not limited to, SQDCI, TPS, OTD, and CI initiatives
- LEAN manufacturing and production process experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other applicable software applications
- Strong knowledge of plant/OSHA health and safety standards and compliance
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
- Fundamental knowledge of engineering principles
- Advanced knowledge of management principles
