Position Summary

This position serves as the senior operational leader for the facility and is accountable for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people performance. The Plant Manager leads Production Managers responsible for multiple manufacturing departments while driving operational excellence, employee development, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all day-to-day manufacturing operations within an assigned facility.

  • Direct and develop a team of 2-3 Production Managers responsible for multiple manufacturing departments and value streams.

  • Drive performance in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People metrics.

  • Maintain a strong floor presence and culture of accountability.

  • Own production performance, schedule attainment, labor efficiency, and capacity planning.

  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Maintenance to achieve facility objectives.

  • Lead Lean Manufacturing initiatives including OEE improvement, setup reduction, 5S, standard work, visual management, and waste elimination.

  • Drive cost reduction through improved productivity, scrap reduction, and overtime control.

  • Support successful new product introduction and transition to full-rate production.

  • Develop future leaders through coaching, performance management, and succession planning.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, security, and company requirements.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of manufacturing experience with increasing leadership responsibility.

  • Minimum 5 years leading supervisors, managers, or department leaders in a precision machining environment.

  • Strong CNC machining background including mills, lathes, EDM, tooling, fixturing, and process optimization.

  • Proven experience managing operations with 100+ employees.

  • Demonstrated success improving safety, quality, productivity, and operational performance.

  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and talent development skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or equivalent experience preferred.

  • Firearms, aerospace, defense, medical device, or similar high-precision manufacturing experience preferred.

Physical And Work Environment Requirements

  • This position is based in a manufacturing environment and may require the following over extended periods of time up to a full 8-hour work shift (excluding lunch and breaks):

  • stand, walk, sit, squat or bend, kneel and rise, lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to — and occasionally exceeding — 50 pounds,

  • view a computer or other digital screen,

  • work on a computer, workstation or comparable system,

  • and make accurate entries in such systems.

  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills are required for detailed assembly and precision work.

  • Work may take place in areas with varying temperatures or no climate control, varying noise levels, and production equipment in motion.

  • Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn in designated areas at all times as required by company policy.
