Plant Maintenance Tech Master

Highly skilled individual contributor responsible for coaching, troubleshooting, tearing down, and rebuilding all on-site equipment. This role focuses on maintaining and repairing plant machinery using advanced tools, welding, and cutting, while developing talent and ensuring site reliability and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections, lubricate moving parts, and complete scheduled preventative maintenance tasks to prevent component failures.
  • Troubleshoot and replace basic mechanical components, including conveyor belts, idlers, pulleys, and water pumps.
  • Perform structural repairs, hard facing, and replace heavy wear-parts (such as crusher liners and shaker screens) using welding, cutting, and grinding equipment.
  • Strictly adhere to MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) and OSHA regulations, execute Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, and maintain a hazard-free work area.
  • Observe aggregate crushing, washing, and screening areas during operation to identify anomalies by sight or sound and perform minor adjustments.
  • Record and maintain service logs, lubrication reports, and maintenance records for plant equipment.
  • Rebuild and fabricate parts; order parts from approved vendors and drive company pickup/repair truck to retrieve parts.
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of mobile equipment.
  • Lead maintenance and fabrication efforts, directing the work of other fixed maintenance personnel.

Requirements

  • Two-year technical degree or accredited apprenticeship program (or equivalent in a technical field) preferred; high school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in operations, preferably within the aggregate industry.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in welding (stick, flux-core), cutting torches, and using power/hand tools.
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of hand and power tools, cutting torches, and welding equipment.
  • MSHA Certified (or willingness to complete required MSHA training).
  • Active valid driver’s license.

Skills

  • Repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment, including conveyors, crushers, screens, pumps, and other essential plant machinery.
  • Coaching and teaching employees on-site best practices for routine maintenance, housekeeping, and operational standards.
  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing common mechanical issues to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with teams to optimize plant performance.
  • Following maintenance schedules and procedures to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Proactiveness, self-motivation, and high attention to detail.

Pay

The base hourly range for this role is $37.00 - $41.00 per hour. This range does not include discretionary bonus or equity package. Compensation is determined based on skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
