About the role

The Plant Maintenance Mechanic II plays a crucial role in maintaining and managing the recycling production systems at Wieland. This position is responsible for providing preventative and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of recycling production systems. The role requires adherence to safety standards and continuous improvement efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Provides preventative and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of recycling production systems under minimal supervision.
  • Adheres to all applicable safety standards and promotes a safe work environment by attending safety meetings and required trainings.
  • Utilizes the Equipment Asset Management (EAM) system to enter and retrieve prescribed data.
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Performs scheduled inspections, basic and advanced preventative and predictive maintenance on equipment to ensure production teams can meet uptime and budget targets.
  • Accurately completes maintenance records, logs, permits, and required documentation.
  • Assists lower-level Preventive Maintenance Technicians in complex systems issues.
  • Engages and participates in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Manages inventory of equipment and supplies.
  • Follows and adheres to all ISO, OSHA, and DEQ requirements.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in maintenance with proficiency in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Corrective/breakdown experience preferred.
  • Ability to diagnose problems and replace parts to repair.
  • Experience in maintaining industrial equipment.
  • Valid Driver’s License with insurance and ability to maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Clean driving record with no citations for moving violations in the previous three years.
  • Demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools commonly used in electrical, electronic, and mechanical trades.
  • General understanding of how to use basic tools.
  • Able to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to OSHA.
  • Experience with process improvement, safety, quality, and 5S ideas.
  • Works in a team environment or independently, but must be a critical thinker, problem solver, and a self-starter.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing to teammates and leaders.
  • Sufficient education to read documents and/or written directives, make appropriate arithmetic equations, and complete written documentation.
  • Willingness to learn new tasks.
  • Self-motivated, responsible, and willing to work within the strict safety guidelines of the company's safety policy.
  • Forklift certification is required.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to lead small groups on projects.
  • Take responsibility of self-performance.
  • Manage time and responsibilities independently.

Exposure to production environments that are not temperature-controlled. Manual dexterity for handling and manipulating items, samples, and tools. Vision abilities, including close vision, color vision, and focus adjustment. Ability to stand, balance, walk, and reach for extended periods. Occasionally stoop, reach, kneel, twist, and walk while handling cases of product. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
