About the Role
This is an entry-level General Maintenance position designed to assist with general tasks around the worksite. The role serves as an introduction to the industry, requiring minimal prior experience. Under supervision, the helper will assist with minor preventative maintenance tasks and learn basic job functions. The primary objective is to assess the employee’s potential for long-term development within the company.
Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections, lubricate moving parts, and complete scheduled preventative maintenance tasks to prevent component failures.
- Troubleshoot and replace basic mechanical components, including conveyor belts, idlers, pulleys, and water pumps.
- Perform structural repairs, hard facing, and replace heavy wear-parts (such as crusher liners and shaker screens) using welding, cutting, and grinding equipment.
- Strictly adhere to MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) and OSHA regulations, execute Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, and maintain a hazard-free work area.
- Observe aggregate crushing, washing, and screening areas during operation to identify anomalies by sight or sound and perform minor adjustments.
- Record and maintain service logs, lubrication reports, and maintenance records for plant equipment.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience in maintenance, preferably with heavy equipment and machines.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety and ability to follow safety procedures.
- General awareness of tools and equipment used on-site.
- Willingness to learn mechanical and maintenance fundamentals.
- Exposure to preventative maintenance processes under supervision.
- Knowledge of using a wide variety of hand and power tools, cutting torches, and welding equipment.
- Knowledge of electrical equipment maintenance.
- Safety and compliance with MSHA procedures and requirements.
- A valid driver’s license.
