Plant Finance Controller

About the role
The Plant Controller is a critical finance leadership role overseeing financial operations, reporting, and compliance for two manufacturing sites within Hunter Douglas. Reporting to the Division CFO (or equivalent), this position ensures accurate financial management, cost control, and strategic decision support across both facilities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Partner with RTR Accounting team on monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting in compliance with GAAP and Hunter Douglas policies.
- Own standard costing, variance analysis (PPV, labor, overhead, scrap), inventory valuation, and product margin analytics. Drive root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Develop annual operating plans (AOP), rolling forecasts, and site-level capital expenditure (CAPEX) justification. Present financial performance and risks/opportunities to plant leadership and division executives.
- Optimize inventory levels, cycle counts, and obsolescence reserves. Partner with supply chain and operations to improve turns and cash flow.
- Maintain robust SOX/internal control environment. Coordinate audits, tax packages, and statutory reporting.
- Serve as the primary finance interface to Plant Managers and department heads. Support pricing decisions, make-vs-buy analysis, and productivity initiatives.
- Drive ERP utilization (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or equivalent), automate reporting, and lead continuous improvement in finance processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA, CMA, or MBA strongly preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing plant controllership role.
- Multi-site or multi-division experience required.
- Deep expertise in cost accounting, standard costing, and manufacturing variances.
- Advanced Excel and ERP systems proficiency; experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) a plus.
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and present to senior leadership.
