About this opportunity
The Plant Engineering Manager oversees the electrical and mechanical systems of a manufacturing plant, from installation to troubleshooting. They are responsible for improving the plant's efficiency, upgrading to new technologies, repairing equipment, increasing production, and reducing manufacturing issues.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coach the departments of engineering, utilities, and maintenance teams with the development of strategic direction for the facility.
- Lead efforts to develop and implement safety, quality, continuous improvement, and customer service throughout the functional areas you coach, as well as act as a resource and ownership driver to the rest of the facility.
- Lead the asset management program for the facility to include maximum utilization, replacement, upgrading, maintenance, and tracking.
- Own the development of technically sound innovative solutions to plant operational problems.
- Collaborate with maintenance and production on problem-solving activities, cost reduction initiatives, and performance efficiency improvements.
- Lead or assist cross-functional teams in implementing process, packaging, or infrastructure projects in support of new product introductions or internal processes to enhance production line capability (equipment efficiency, flexibility, and capacity).
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering.
- 5+ years of industrial experience, preferably in a food manufacturing facility.
- Good analytical skills: ability to troubleshoot mechanical/electrical systems and processes.
- Strong cause-effect analytical abilities to solve problems.
- Knowledgeable in sanitary design principles and specifications.
- Committed to personal growth as well as the proven ability to lead and develop those around you to higher levels of ownership, responsibility, and service.
- Proven ability to successfully facilitate projects in a team-based environment and meet timelines.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Highly motivated, self-directed, and the ability to multi-task.
